Summer Birthday Party Ideas

If you've got a summer birthday boy or girl of any age, here are five fun ideas for fantastic birthday parties they'll remember forever: Outdoor Movie Night. Use a projector and a large white sheet to show a movie outside. Invite guests to bring their own chairs and blankets to keep comfortable during the show. Serve traditional movie fare: popcorn, nachos, hot dogs, candy, and sodas. Remember to be courteous to neighbors and let them know about any noise in advance. Slip and Slide. Take a kiddie favorite to the next level. All you need is an industrial sheet of plastic, a hose, and a hot summer day. Adults and kids alike will love taking turns on the slide. Serve fresh towels and cool popsicles. Bike Parade. Invite guests to bring their own bike and you supply colorful streamers, tapes, pom-poms, and other fun do-dads to decorate them. Then, form a parade to show off your work and have the parade route end with a picnic meal. Campfire Fun. At a campsite or a backyard fire pit, have guests prepare their own tinfoil dinners thrown right into the fire to cook. (Use a Sharpie to mark the outside with guests' names.) While dining, share campfire ghost stories or cowboy poetry. And for dessert? S'mores, of course! Photo Scavenger Hunt. Divide your group into teams, each equipped with a digital camera, a vehicle, and a list of silly/obscure items that must appear in a photograph with at least one person from the team. For example: a riding lawnmower, a police officer, a set of twins, an ice cream truck, etc. Everybody returns at a certain time to upload photos to a laptop. Guests can dine on cake and ice cream during a fabulous slide show featuring the hunt! What are your favorite summer party ideas? Share them in the comments section!
