5 New Ideas for Iced Tea

Did you know that June is National Iced Tea Month? Okay, probably not, but that doesn't mean you don't love this refreshing, thirst-quenching drink, right? And if you haven't tried more than just the original, you're missing out. Here are five great ways to enjoy a tall glass of iced tea. 1. Add fresh herbs. Not only is it beautiful, fresh herbs are a perfect flavor companion to iced tea. Try a sprig of fresh mint, cilantro, or thyme in each glass. Each sip is even more cool and refreshing! 2. Try other tea flavors. Any tea can be served over ice, so turn your favorite cold-weather teas into iced teas for summer. I especially love berry and lemon herbal teas. After the tea has steeped and cooled, I add handfuls of fresh berries (and mint) to the pitcher. It's beautiful and delicious. 3. Spice up your tea. Add cinnamon sticks and whole cloves to create another flavor dimension. It's especially delicious paired with your favorite barbecue fare. 4. Turn tea into dessert. A scoop of ice cream (I like vanilla bean or cinnamon) in a glass of iced tea is a sweet and delicious after-dinner treat that adults enjoy as much as kids. I stir mine together like a root beer freeze. Remember to strain the ice. 5. Try iced tea as a cocktail. Adding sweet and sour mix, tequila, and lots of fresh limes to your favorite iced tea turns it into the ultimate summer margarita. Try this recipe. Have your own favorite way to enjoy iced tea?
