My mom would tell us don’t rush time (as in we can’t wait for a certain day for a certain event to happen) because in doing so we are rushing someone’s death.
I do want to share this which is a little off topic, but something I appreciate about my mom:
I know that it’s often said, blood is thicker than water. My mom goes shockingly to some, beyond this. She hears both sides of the story and gives input based on whom she believes is right. Family may end up with their feelings hurt, but in the end, we know that we can trust her honesty and desire to do right and learn from her example.

My mom is most famous for her dancing (which I can impersonate flawlessly, by the way) but she does churn out some great advice as well. I guess the most memorable things she has said to me come when I’m not feeling well. My favourites are: “It’s okay to be sad,” and “this won’t be forever.” Both of which are coupled with a nice long session of “head scratchies” and a nap. It never fails to make things a little less awful.
Just wait till your dad gets home.
My Mom would always say, “Well Susan, you know how your father is……” which I’m sorry, just was NOT A GOOD enough excuse in my book, for some of his actions, behavior, and criticism…..he may be gone, but those painful words and slaps will always be in my mind & heart. I know you have to let go, but that is easier said then done!

When my mom would brush my hair or scrub my teeth for a good cleaning, she would always say “It doesn’t hurt me”, to toughen me up when I whined “ouch ouch ouch!”… I do that to my daughter today… =)
Since I’m such the procrastinator I heard this line a lot “An emergency on your part does not constitute one on my part.” Taught me that she’s there to help me but I should be better at time management when it came to certain projects and responsibilities.
