Prepping for Fall Room by Room
Tomorrow marks the official beginning of fall and I’ve got a busy weekend ahead getting the house ready to transition to a new season with a few simple tasks for each area of the house. I plan to crank up some music and dig in as a family to get the jobs done. Here’s what I’ve got planned:
Kitchen
- Wipe down cupboards and drawers
- Toss out expired spices (helpful guidelines here)
- Clean the oven (helpful guidelines here)
- Polish silver
- Wash china (I’ll be using it frequently in the coming months)
- Take inventory of napkins and tablecloths (no surprises come Thanksgiving!)
Family Room
- Vacuum dust and cobwebs from fireplace
- Set out throw blankets in a basket
- Refresh coffee table books
Bedrooms
- Wipe down window sills and check for drafts
- Add blankets to bedding
- Replace any old, flat, or stained pillows
Garage
- Store beach and pool gear
- Test snow blower and leaf blower
- Sweep
Basement/Storage
- Change furnace filter
- Check windows for drafts
- Set out mice traps
Bathrooms
- Clean out, reorganize, and restock cupboards
- Launder bath mats and rugs
- Replace hand soaps with autumn-inspired scents
What about you, how will you get your house ready for fall?
I am excited about the fall. Hopefully we will have some cool weather. It has been so hot this summer and I can’t wait to get up in the morning and hug myself in my fluffy pink robe.
Also the chance to have a fire going – something so inviting.
