By 1924, the idea of a national Father’s Day was so popular that President Calvin Coolidge supported it. However, it was not until 1966 that a presidential proclamation declared that the third Sunday of June as Father’s Day. This proclamation by President Lyndon Johnson was made permanent by President Richard Nixon in 1972.
LBJ!!!
it was Lyndon Johnson
Lyndon B Johnson designated the 3rd sunday of june to be fathers day, although before him Woodrow Wilson and Calvin Coolidge reccomended that it be that sunday as well.
I FOUND SEVERAL POSSIBLE ANSWERS!
1.] In the year 1915, the President of the Chicago Branch of the Lions’ Club, Harry Meek, is said to have celebrated the first Father’s Day with his organization.
2.] In the year 1916, US President Woodrow Wilson approved the idea of observing an annual Father’s Day.
3.] In the year 1924, President Calvin Coolidge made Father’s Day a national event.
4.] In the year 1966, President Lyndon Johnson designated the third Sunday in June as Father’s Day and issued the first presidential proclamation honoring fathers.
5.] In the year 1972 President Richard Nixon signed the public law that made the Father’s Day celebration permanent.
So, depending on how you look at it, the answer could be: *President Richard Nixon
*President Lyndon Johnson
*President Calvin Coolidge
*Harry Meek
OR
*President Woodrow Wilson
Lyndon B. Johnson
