Wanted to say hello – I am a ‘newbie’ to the blog! I also wanted to let you know that I’ve got several places I could serve a basket of nibblers – at an upcoming family party or to my husband’s co-workers at his work. I would send the nibblers basket to the Troy Police Department in Troy, MI. They were absolutely wonderful when me and my 2 sons came home to someone breaking into our home. They checked out the house before we could go in. They stayed the whole time with us and kept us posted on the suspect. The crime seen detective came and fingerprinted and swabed the blood and explained everything to the boys. The police came back later and told us that they caught her and she was in jail. My youngest son who is 10 years old is still having a difficult time with the whole thing and they explained to him that she will not get out of jail. They actually took the time out to talk to him. My family is very thankful that no one was hurt and our police department here in Troy care about all of us. They certainly all deserve the cookies for a job well done!

I think that for common gatherings: a house warming party is an awesome place to display one of these baskets. Everyone loves the smell of cookies. The guests would be delighted.

I think that something like this is perfect to give to someone after they have had a huge disaster as well. I sent a basket to one of my co-workers down in Houston last year after the flood hit. When I was talking to her, she was so down. They were without power for alsmost two weeks, and a lot of their belongings were ruined. When she returned to work, I sent her a cookie basket to share with the girls around her. They were so excited. You see, the stores were closed and no one was thinking about anything like that at the time. It was something so little, but it made a big difference to my co-workers…a cookie really does bring a smile to everyone’s face!!!

Having a basket of these yummy delicious cookies would serve a few different scenarios for me. 🙂 I would most likely take them into the office and share them with my coworkers for 4 reasons.
    1. To announce and celebrate the birth of my little girl- just a couple days away! 🙂
    2. It’d help make up for the mood swings that the pregnancy sometimes threw me into…
    3. It’d help me plan to take over the world- one coworker at a time.Or at least get me invited to one of the after hours office parties for a change. 🙂
    4. It’d promote world peace and it would help protect my computer from being hacked by the office IT prankster and putting weird docs and applications in the registry to pop up at just the wrong times.

But most likely, I’ll just order some and send them to my brother’s, sister’s and best friend’s families this Christmas- they’re all scattered across the country- and I haven’t seen them in years, but I think that this old favorite of ours will bring us closer together this holiday- even if only in spirit.

Where would I serve 100 Nibblers? WOW — I think by the time *I* served them there may be only about 75 ..
Well.. we are planning a community block party in my small town of 3000 folks.. for Oct 31.. so instead of a Halloween trick and treat we are having treats for all.. a BBQ.. some punch and if we had Nibblers– well we would promise to share with anyone wanting a real treat that visits the street.. we sometimes get a dozen or so kids from the locak grade school…so far we have 90% of the residents participating.. uh that would be about 14 folks 🙂

With job losses, furloughs, and a variety of challenging financial times.. we are endeavoring to have more local-neighborhood social times.. helps us appreciate what we do have …

A friend had a stroke and is recovering there and it would be wonderful to reward all the workers on the floor and patients who work so hard toward their recovery. Second I would put them at Hickory Hills Park District on days Dance is run. My husband coaches a youth judo team in a small town in the middle of nowhere. However, we are blessed with a fine group of young athletes, ages 9-12, who decided to dedicate their summer to training for the Junior Olympics. Some trained over 40 hours a week! We incorporated judo and physical training along with dietary education – a couple of kids (aged 10!) lost over 20 pounds to compete at a more reasonable weight. They fought hard and the team brought home many gold medals. I think Nibblers would be a perfect reward after a tough three-hour practice, yet would still keep with the theme of moderation that promoted their success.

This might seem weird, but I once had cookies delivered to a friend and his family in lieu of flowers when his father passed away. I knew they would be overwhelmed with flowers and there’s always a need for food when family is gathering, even for such a sad occasion. He later told me it was the best and most memorable delivery the received. Everyone loved the cookies, they helped in giving family and friends who came by the house something to nibble on, and they brought a smile to people’s faces during a sad time.

There are an asundry of places to see a savory basket of these delicious treats disappear. We have 8 children, 18 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. I doubt that I would get even one with this crowd around to visit and celebrate family. Instead of a covered dish at church, I’d share a basket of these goodies with the congregation at a potluck dinner; or the coffee time between church services. Either way, I’d have a lovely basket to use for a unique purpose after the cookies have disappeared.

If I were to win the basket o’ Nibblers, I would take them to work in hopes that their sweetness and chewy goodness would melt the heart of my boss, Mrs. Wicked Witch of the Pacific NorthWest. I am the darling underling of a difficult lady and I KNOW that if I could woo her with these little delights, her nasty heart would melt and her life would be happy and small woodland birds would attend to her every need.
(This would occur after eating ONE Nibbler.)

After her second Nibbler, she would then recognize what an amazing asset I am to her and the department. She would shed her nasty, outer, crusty self and we would skip, around the office, holding hands, spreading nummy Nibbler goodness around the rest of the office.

Yes…that is why I would like to win the basket o’ Nibblers.
